Maya is the greatest when it comes to animal language. My dearly departed Smokey (cat) survived a trip in a car 2615 miles, and lived to be 20 yrs. old. She never could have made that trip without Maya's expertise!

Moving quickly, almost frantically, my hands are full since I carry what seems like my kitchen sink with me when I leave the house.

Starr is lying on the floor directly in front of the door. I am late. She is blocking the direction that I am momentarily convinced that I cannot move quickly enough in.

Starr reminds me to stop - and breathe. She wags her tail happily as she looks up at me. I reluctantly put down my things and give her belly rubs. She gets up without my asking.

I realize - I am back in the moment. I am breathing. Starr has done her job. I am so thankful.
